Job Description:
The WM Director of Wealth Strategies is the senior expert
providing thought leadership, structure, training, and support for
the critical elements of financial planning process and the
efficient delivery throughout the HTLF Wealth Management footprint.
As subject matter expert, they are responsible for developing
analytical insights, strategies, and content related to tax, estate
and financial plans. This includes the training and education of
HTLF Wealth Advisors, as well as developing plans for clients with
great complexity. The ability to motivate and lead cross-functional
teams, provide superior support to the sales process, and
effectively communicate with executive leadership and C-suite
clientele is critical. The WM Director of Wealth Strategies is a
key member of the PCS management team and has an integral role in
improving the current environment and fostering change and
innovation that will ensure HTLF achieves growth plans and other
business goals. Primary Responsibilities Senior expert in a variety
of planning strategies such as estate planning, equity-based
compensation, asset protection, multi-generational wealth transfer,
tax management, gifting, business succession, wealth replacement,
insurance, qualified plans, and non-qualified deferred
compensation. Provides resources and essential support/oversight to
HTLF Member Banks in the development and communication of financial
advice, including making recommendations to the WM team, Wealth
Advisors, and directly to high-net-worth WM clients of Member
Banks. Manages a team of Wealth Strategists who can support Wealth
Advisors and can interact and communicate with senior leadership
and high-net-worth clientele. Makes presentations on planning
strategies and related topics via webinar, written reports and
meetings, as requested by the Member Banks. Develops and implements
policies, procedures, and workflow that enhance the ongoing
administration and delivery of the planning process across all WM
segments. Works directly with business partners and affluent
clients that require more complex planning and advice. Ensures
quality control and accuracy of advice. Monitor and assess the
technical knowledge and skills of HTLF Wealth Advisors/Fiduciary
Officers at Member Banks. Provides training and development for new
and existing HTLF and Member Bank Wealth professionals related to
financial advice. Provides ongoing support in the day-to-day
management of the WM department, including collaboration with other
HTLF business lines, interaction with Member. Bank senior
leadership, departmental budgeting, and ongoing sales/service
support. Retains and grows assets under management by working with
clients, prospects, and Centers of Influence. Communicates complex
advice, solutions, and in-depth knowledge of planning concepts in a
practical manner. Takes a holistic and integrative view through
strong conceptual thinking and consideration for influence and
impact on various levels within business. Presents information both
written and verbal in internal and external interactions in an
effective manner. Develop and lead Wealth Strategy meetings.
Participates in WM Trust Committee meetings. Serves on other
committees and provides leadership as assigned. Completes annual
E-Learning Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training as assigned and
keeps up-to-date knowledge of BSA as it relates to the job
function. Secondary Responsibilities Performs other duties as
assigned. Management Responsibilities Works with department staff
on individual professional development and career development
opportunities. Facilitates team members in creating individual
goals and development plans that align with the department goals.
Works with Heartland Financials--- Talent Acquisition team to
identify and hire the most qualified and talented individuals to
fill open positions. Provides information and on-going feedback to
department staff regarding expectations and performance, salary
adjustments and/or promotions. Addresses and resolves all
performance concerns and issues in a timely manner. Prepares and
conducts annual performance reviews within established deadlines.
Directly supervises HTLF employees who support the development and
delivery of wealth strategies and indirectly manages the delivery
of wealth advice through HTLF Wealth Advisors. Qualifications
Bachelors Business Administration/Management, Finance or in a
related field. required 3 years experience with eMoney, Naviplan or
comparable planning software. required 10 years of direct work
experience in sophisticated wealth planning activities 10 years
experience working with complex trust structures, wealth transfer
strategies, legal issues and fiduciary and tax planning trends.
Certified Financial Planner - CFP - Certified Financial Planner
Board of Standards, Inc. required or CTFA - Certified Trust and
Financial Officer required or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) -
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants - AICPA required
