SCHOOL SAFETY & SECURITY OFFICER The Milwaukee Rescue Mission
(MRM) is seeking a full-time School Safety & Security Officer to
create and maintain a safe and secure environment at our North
Campus. The North Campus is home to Cross Trainers Academy, our
K4-12th grade Christian school. LOCATION: North Campus, 1530 W
Center Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53206 WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time,
Monday-Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm RESPONSIBILITIES: Help ensure the
safety and security of staff, guests, students, visitors, building
and property Screen visitors and ensure office staff maintain
compliance with arrival of guests, volunteers, visitors, and
walk-ins Assist in reducing truancy and loitering in and about the
north campus Support enforcing student behavior compliance when
called to assist in specific situations (lunch, recess, halls,
classroom) under supervision of a school principal Help ensure
staff, guests, students and visitors understand and follow premise
rules and regulations Conduct regular patrols and inspections of
the building and grounds to identify and report maintenance
concerns, damage and potential security risks Diligently monitor
surveillance cameras throughout shift Encourage a harmonious
atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolutions to conflicts Discern
potentially volatile situations and act quickly to de-escalate and
alleviate disruptions Respond to alarms and emergency calls,
requesting assistance from emergency personnel for high risk
situations If necessary, remove or assist in removing any person
engaged in suspicious or criminal acts Perform First Aid and/or
other life saving measures if necessary Support various emergency
drills per emergency action plans QUALIFICATIONS: High school
diploma or GED equivalent required, college preferred Previous
experience in security, social work or other related fields
preferred Experience organizing and/or supervising youth activities
(coaching, tutoring, mentoring, etc.) preferred A mature Christian
with a servant’s heart who is able to relate well with others in a
diverse population Familiarity with security equipment and
practices preferred Ability to remain positive and calm, and to
demonstrate fair, consistent, and sound judgement when dealing with
problematic behavior or chaotic or conflicting situations Strong
conflict resolution skills. Able to defuse potentially volatile
situations with patience and tact Ability to apply knowledge and
experience of health and safety requirements Culturally competent
and relational with strong interpersonal communication and
mentoring skills Ability and willingness to follow directions, to
be flexible and a team player Computer literacy and the ability to
navigate industry software Good report writing and communication
skills Strong attention to detail Reliability, dependability, and
punctuality are expected Have a genuine concern for the salvation
and spiritual welfare for all those encountered though the ministry
of MRM, seeking to model and share the hope of the gospel within
the established responsibilities of this position. A workplace
