Position Summary: The Education Director is responsible for the oversight of English as a Second Language classes, the Early Childhood Program, and other World Relief DuPage/Aurora (WRDA) programs providing client and community education. These innovative programs are built on a strong student-centered, results-oriented philosophy. As the director of the leading Education program in World Relief's national network, the Education Director will also be responsible to guide this program into a new role as World Relief's nationwide Center of Excellence for adult English language learning. This senior-level position will join World Relief DuPage/Aurora (WRDA's) talented leadership team to shape office-wide direction and strategy. World Relief DuPage/Aurora partners with churches and volunteers to help immigrants integrate into our community, specifically in our service areas of DuPage County and the City of Aurora. This ministry includes five strands of focus: serving, mobilizing, equipping, connecting, and convening. The Education program currently includes classes at four locations, in addition to administrative functions at the two office locations. Responsibilities: Missional and Office Leadership Embody World Relief's mission, vision and values as leader and an example for staff, volunteers, clients and the community Actively participate on the World Relief DuPage/Aurora (WRDA) Leadership Team in strategic planning, the setting of office-wide policy and procedures, and leading organizational initiatives Contribute to shaping the spiritual culture in the office, encouraging prayer Demonstrate a strong focus on cross-program and cross-office integration to meet program, staff and community goals Program Vision & Direction Envision the future of the Education program through ongoing innovation, flexibility, and adaptability Lead ongoing program development through clearly communicating and inspiring staff toward measurable goals, objectives, and outcomes, and celebrating team achievements Influence staff to reach their full potential through effective hiring/onboarding, professional development, accountability, and encouragement Ensure involvement in World Relief's vision and direction through integration of all educational program components into the achievement of client and organizational goals Collaborate with church partners and community organizations to enhance services offered to immigrants Pursue innovative funding models to provide funding stability for program growth while also ensuring compliance with current funding requirements Center of Excellence Direction Oversee the launch of WR's new Education Center of Excellence, providing leadership and technical assistance, and setting baseline standards for adult ESL programs across the WR network Develop a clear strategy, process, and support structures within the Center of Excellence Monitor progress throughout the first year after the Center launch, and lead the development of plans for future WR Education growth, including the necessary technical support. Financial Plan the annual budget for the World Relief DuPage/Aurora (WRDA) Education Division Facilitate renewal of yearly grants from state and local agencies, research potential new funding sources, and ensure the submission grant proposals and applications through both managing and participating in the proposal-writing process. Oversee monitoring of overall divisional budget and individual grant budgets as may be required Participate in fundraising activities in conjunction with officewide annual fundraising strategy. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: A passion for helping immigrants reach their full potential through English language acquisition Transformational Cross-cultural experience Experience and passion for coaching and supervising high-performing staff Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Experience in program leadership, including planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating; a track record of innovation and creative problem-solving Ability to manage multiple demands and deadlines with flexibility Grant writing/management experience Bi-lingual language skills strongly preferred Requirements: Personal Christian faith and a heart for service to vulnerable people Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in TESOL required Intermediate computer skills required (Word, Excel, Power Point) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in skype meetings may be required.
