is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to serve as subject matter
expert for the fire protection program, fire hazard analysis,
penetration seals, fire detection systems, and fire suppression
systems for the SHINE Moly-99 campus. These systems encompass a
variety of commercial quality and safety-related requirements. The
Fire Protection Engineer will oversee the design, procurement,
installation, and turnover of their systems to the Operations
department. The Engineer will also support the Operations
organization during the commissioning phase. For this role
specifically, the Engineer will be responsible for the following
program and systems: Fire Protection Program (non-fire brigade
facilities, NFPA 801) Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA) Facility Fire
Detection and Suppression Hot Cell Fire Detection System
Penetration Seal Schedule The base salary range for this position
is $105,000 - $135,000 plus a comprehensive compensation package.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
Duties and Responsibilities: Specific duties and responsibilities
include, but are not limited to: Act as the subject matter expert
and owner of the fire protection program and systems within job
description. Develop and maintain design documentation for program
and systems to ensure complete and accurate information is
available to other engineering departments and SHINE
subcontractors. Perform owner’s acceptance reviews for vendor
provided design. Provide review and resolution of construction
inquiries, as required. This may include shop drawing reviews,
requests for information, field change requests, and nonconformance
reports. Perform walk-downs of installed equipment in the field to
verify adequacy, and review work packages. Identify and track
resolution of system-specific project issues, such as
nonconformances and coordination of system routing with other
engineering groups. Provide support to Procurement for requests for
quote, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests and delivery
of equipment, as required. Provide schedule input to manager for
assigned work. Support Operations group with turnover and
commissioning activities. Provide stakeholder feedback on Auxiliary
Systems, Structural Engineering, Chemical Process, and Nuclear
Systems Engineering group designs. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree
in fire protection engineering or related discipline with fire
protection experience. 10 years of experience in engineering
design. Ability to oversee multiple project activities in a dynamic
environment. Experience making informed design decisions while
taking risk, cost, and schedule into account. Ability to own,
maintain, and optimize multiple systems in various stages of
project completion. Ability to forecast timelines for completing
assigned work scopes. Excellent communication and teamwork skills
The following experience is preferred: Experience in NFPA 801.
Experience in 10 CFR 50 and 10 CFR 70 for accident analyses.
Experience in procurement processes to purchase equipment.
Experience working with vendors on final system design and testing.
Experience writing requirements documents. Experience with Nuclear
Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements. Working Conditions and
