Jacobs is seeking a qualified Automation & SCADA professional to
support our OMFS facilities within the North region. Your role at
Jacobs enables our regional Operational Technology team to better
"Serve and understand the needs of operational teams to deliver and
support practical, resilient, & secure technology." As a member of
our team, you will support the Operational Technology Manager & the
Regional Services Group as we work with our facilities to provide
world-class OT services that enable the daily treatment of more
than 170 million gallons of water and the protection of water
resources throughout the region.
Job Description:
Automation Specialists will need excellent problem-solving skills
and customer service skills, and experience designing,
implementing, and maintaining Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition Systems as well as their underlying PLC systems and
control panels. Automation Specialists will maintain a diverse
deployment of SCADA systems from Inductive Automation, Rockwell
Automation, Aveva (Wonderware), and Allen Bradley PLC systems from
Rockwell Automation. Automation Specialists will also be
responsible for developing and implementing upgrades across
projects of differing sizes and budgets. This position must be
service-oriented and proactive in anticipating and resolving
problems while maximizing the efficient use of resources. Ideal
candidates will be eager to learn more and develop skills in
primary and secondary areas, such as networking and Industrial
Cyber Security.
Typical Duties:
Traveling to facilities throughout the region (Approximately 1 week
every other month)
Configuring, commissioning, and maintaining Control Panels, PLCs,
and SCADA Systems
Supporting the installation of Control Panels, PLCs, & SCADA
Servers, and Workstations
Troubleshooting process control issues
Troubleshooting SCADA communications issues
Remote Work, Home/Local Facility
Remotely monitor assets across facilities and identify maintenance
needs or service degradation
Remotely Assist with troubleshooting process control issues
Remotely Apply minor updates and fixes to existing SCADA & PLC
systems
Work with facility managers to identify technology needs
Document existing infrastructure
Develop plans to improve facility control systems in alignment with
facility needs
Collaborate with other disciplines on equipment installation,
startup & commissioning
Configure equipment to conform to process control and resiliency
standards
Manage SCADA user accounts and access controls
Here's What You'll Need:
Experience/Training Requirements
A principle-driven person that exudes Integrity, Curiosity, &
Empathy
+8 Years' experience in Control System Design, PLC Programing, &
SCADA Development
A solid technical foundation focusing on electrical and/or control
system design
Additional Qualifications
A person who is visionary; one who plans far ahead and focuses on
what is important
Certifications/Training: Relevant SCADA & PLC OEM
certifications
Background in networking or information systems management.
Other corollary skills: Automotive repair, Mechanical skills,
process, manufacturing knowledge, etc.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. It may require lifting
and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended
periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
Extended periods of walking throughout industrial facilities both
inside and outside.
May require climbing, working at heights, and in small, confined
spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets, and server
racks. Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch for long
periods. Work in loud areas with hotter and colder temperatures
than standard office environmental conditions. Lift and transport
equipment up to 50 pounds.
Tools & Equipment :
General office equipment, which includes telephone, copier,
PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment that
supports the commercial and industrial network environment.
Industrial Control Equipment: VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, Embedded devices,
Radios, etc.
Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment.
Attendance:
Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule
is mandatory
Overtime/work outside the regular schedule may be required.
Travel:
Estimated (12.5%) travel throughout the 'North' (CT, DE, IL, MI,
NJ, NY, PA, RI) region will be required
Candidate must maintain a valid driver's license with no major
infractions
Candidate must maintain a valid 'REAL ID' driver's license or other
TSA-approved identification
Other Essential Functions:
Adherence to established company safety policies and good
industrial and office safety practices.
Candidate must exhibit professional behavior that promotes
teamwork, fosters cooperation and enhances productivity in the
workplace. Must be well organized and coordinate, prioritize, and
execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure
environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work
effectively with contractors and personnel at all levels.
Grooming and dress are usually business casual but dependent on the
client's standards.
