(Broader Urban Involvement and Leadership Development) is presently
seeking a committed, self-motivated, and innovative individual to
join our team. BUILD is a nationally respected gang intervention,
violence prevention, and youth development organization based on
Chicago’s West Side. Since 1969, BUILD has worked to save lives and
mentor young people who live in the city’s most challenged

Therapist (CT) will have a dual role as a Community Therapist as
well as act as provide immediate support to youth and their
families after a shooting or other act of violence, including
emotional support, initial assessments, and referrals for support.
Services take place within targeted communities and area hospitals
as needed. The (CT) reports to the Manager of Community Mental
Health Services (MCMHS). Responsibilities are but not limited to:
Effectively addressing the mental health/substance abuse needs of
high-risk youth through: Clinical Assessment for youth referred to
BUILD programs as well as in-field support and consultation.
Provide a client centered and strength-based approach to the
treatment of youth and families. Establishing mental
health/substance abuse referral partners and identifying
opportunities for more formal collaboration Facilitate 1:1, family
and/or group counseling for client’s who require mental health
support Receives case assignments, establishes treatment plans,
reviews case progress, and determines case closure through the
supervisor of the assigned program. Provides mental health services
to participants through a holistic and trauma informed lens. Makes
referrals in accordance with service plans to other organization
units and external providers. Provide case management and
connection to internal and external services. Assists members of
the Intervention Team during crisis situations involving youth.
Maintains knowledge current in the field including, but not limited
to, attendance at seminars, workshops, etc. Support staff to
identify youth mental health issues, provide support, and refer
youth to community partners offering more intensive services.
Attends departmental and agency-wide staff meetings, as scheduled
and agency-wide events as required. Document and report program
activities and outcomes and ensure progress toward annual program
objectives. Submits statistics and reports to corresponding
managers on a bi-weekly and monthly basis and/or as needed.
Maintains File Compliance as required and compliance with ETO.
Requirements: Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related mental
health field. Working towards or holding licensure (LCSW/LCPC) is
required. Minimum experience of 3 years in working inner-city
youth. Operate professionally in the field on a flexible time
schedule, which includes late evenings and weekends. Proficiency
with technology (Microsoft Office), tech integration into daily
program operations and evaluation systems. Must possess solid
understanding of data collection and program evaluation Automobile
with insurance and valid driver’s license Must successfully pass an
extensive background check Self-motivated leader with the ability
to communicate in a friendly and informative manner with people
from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and
lifestyles Bilingual English and Spanish preferred Clinicians with
experience in expressive therapies, including visual arts, dance
movement, music Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting
at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15
pounds at times. As of October 15, 2021, all BUILD employees are
